We’re supporting the Make It York initiative to help those who are homeless.
RED is a sponsor of the York Culture Awards, which is being held at York Minster on November 23. In total, the project has so far raised enough to buy 150 blankets.
The Salvation Army liaises with City of York Council and all of the locally registered homeless support groups in the city – and donations to buy the blankets have come from sponsors, Make It York staff and supporters of the York Culture Awards.
The Awards celebrate excellence in the arts and culture sector and reward outstanding innovation, creativity and quality.
RED is sponsoring the new Excellence in Writing category at this year’s awards, designed to recognise ‘an outstanding York-based author, playwright, screenwriter or poet who has had some outstanding work published or performed during 2016/17’.
The finalists in the category are:
- The Boy Who Went Magic by A P Winter
- Flying High! By Anneliese Emmans Dean
- News from Nowhere by Jane Austin
Our director Andy said: “The whole team at RED are really proud to work with Make It York to support this local project.
“It’s a brilliant idea that raises awareness of this important issue – and helps those who are homeless to keep warm during the winter months.”
